I founded Your Chess Coach with my husband, Dan, in 2007. Although we had been playing and teaching chess for years, it had been on an informal basis.

Today we are teaching in five schools and have over 50 students. Although we specialize in teaching young children, we also have a few adults we teach.

Chess is an important educational tool, one we’d like to see in all schools across America. Countries who teach chess in their schools do well with their children.

Parents who introduce chess to their children when they are young, often are surprised by the power of the unique bonding experience that comes from the lessons.

Chess helps children in so many ways. Not only do their test scores improve in school, but their interest in other subjects soars. Children often gain an extraordinary self-confidence and courage to try new things, including other activities, like sports and art.

Dan and I are passionate about teaching chess to children and hope to help other parents and educators to teach our next generation this wonderful game of kings and queens.
